The Bar Association of Metropolitan St. Louis (BAMSL) kicked off its 2020-21 bar year on Fri., May 1 a little bit differently than previous years. BAMSL's 2020-21 Board of Governors and Young Lawyers Division (YLD) Executive Board were sworn in virtually via Zoom at noon on May 1, the same day that Law Day is commemorated nationally each year.

The American Bar Association's national theme for the 2020 Law Day is Your Vote, Your Voice, Our Democracy: The 19th Amendment at 100. BAMSL's Law Day originally was scheduled for May 1, the official start of the BAMSL bar year, but was postponed to Fri., June 26 due to the COVID-19 state and local stay-at-home orders. The guest speaker for BAMSL's Law Day celebration will still be Journalist George Will. The ceremonial and traditional passing of the gavel from past BAMSL presidents to the new president, Hon. Glenn Norton, will be held during the postponed gathering. Additionally, numerous BAMSL members will be honored during the traditional Law Day Awards Ceremony on June 26.

Missouri Supreme Court Judge Mary Russell served as the Mistress of Ceremonies during the virtual swearing-in. After 2019-20 BAMSL President Sara G. Neill "virtually tossed" a gavel to incoming 2020-21 President Hon. Glenn Norton in a moment that garnered cheers and laughter from attendees, the 2020-21 Board of Governors and YLD Executive Board were sworn in by Judge Norton's wife, Hon. Colleen Dolan, chief judge of the Missouri Court of Appeals, Eastern District. The 2020-21 Board of Governors includes:
