St. Louis, MO – St. Louis Attorneys Against Hunger, an initiative of The Bar Association of St. Louis (BAMSL), distributed $75,000 in January to three organizations that help feed the hungry in the metropolitan region.

Last fall, BAMSL President John Simon and Executive Director Zoe Linza met with managing partners of law firms throughout the region. One of the many outcomes of those meetings was the managing partners’ generous donations to the St. Louis Attorneys Against Hunger fund. The STLAAH program supports Meals on Wheels of Greater St. Louis (www.mowstl.org), Operation Food Search (www.operationfoodsearch.org) and St. Patrick Center (www.stpatrickcenter.org).

The BAMSL Board of Governors during its Jan. 16 meeting surprised representatives from Operation Food Search and St. Patrick Center with individual checks, each for $25,000. Meals on Wheels was presented with a check, also for $25,000, on Jan. 24 at the BAMSL offices. The following accepted the donations on behalf of their respective organizations:

  • Jane Nix, president, Meals on Wheels of Greater St. Louis
  • Lucinda Perry, director of strategic initiatives, Operation Food Search
  • Mary Kitley, chief development officer, St. Patrick Center

All three organizations provide food to the hundreds of thousands of people who go hungry each day in our community.

BAMSL and the Saint Louis Bar Foundation in 2017 initiated the St. Louis Attorneys Against Hunger (STLAAH) program, which unites lawyers with the St. Louis community to help in the fight against hunger in the area. BAMSL Secretary Hon. Carol Jackson chairs the St. Louis Attorneys Against Hunger Committee.

BAMSL is grateful to the entire metropolitan legal community for its support of this important program that directly impacts thousands of people right here in the St. Louis Metropolitan area.
