Election Information

Following the interview process and vetting of candidates, the Nominating Committee is pleased to submit the following slate of officers for the Bar Association of Metropolitan St. Louis, 2023 – 2024 Bar Year:

  • President – President-Elect Hon. Kendra Howard will assume Presidency on May 1, 2023
  • President-Elect – Kevin Gunn
  • Vice President – Untress Quinn
  • Treasurer – Amy Rebecca Johnson
  • Secretary – Graham Dobbs
  • ABA Delegate – Lynn Ann Vogel

The bylaws of the Association provide for the appointment of a nominating committee to include diverse representation from several existing committees and sections. In May 2022, BAMSL President Anne-Marie Brockland appointed Sara Neill as the chair of the 2023-24 Nominating Committee. Other new members to the committee include:

  • Brittainy Cavender was appointed by the Women in the Legal Profession Section
  • Justin Strayhorn was appointed by Minorities in the Legal Profession Section
  • Hon. E. Richard Webber was appointed to a two-year term by President Brockland.
  • Courtney Chen was appointed by the Young Lawyer's Division

Returning committee members include:

  • Hon. Nancy McLaughlin was previously appointed by then-President Bob Tomaso
  • Reuben Shelton was appointed to the Committee by the Past Presidents Committee

The committee held their first meeting on August 9, 2022 to review the by-laws and outline the committee charge. The initial meeting served as a discussion about the process, the need to assure all BAMSL Members are informed, and to ensure every effort was made to make the committee process open and accessible. Another status meeting to discuss potential candidates was held on September 20, 2022 via Zoom; interviews of the  candidates were conducted in person on October 10, 2022.

In carrying out our work as a committee, we were guided by the principle that BAMSL's Executive Board should be qualified and representative of the diverse elements of the Association's membership including, but not limited to age, race, gender, sexual orientation, disability, geography, and areas and types of practice and have a willingness to commit time, energy and talents to BAMSL. We believe our recommended slate of candidates is reflective of that mission.

Respectfully submitted,

Sara Neill
Chair, BAMSL Nominating Committee
