The Saint Louis Bar Foundation, the philanthropic arm of The Bar Association of Metropolitan St. Louis (BAMSL), honored five individuals during its 12th annual Spirit of Justice Awards Celebration on Friday, October 4 at the St. Louis Club in Clayton, MO. The Spirit of Justice Awards recognize lawyers, non-lawyers and organizations who "have demonstrated accomplishments, leadership and integrity in fostering and maintaining the rule of law and in facilitating and promoting improvement of the administration of justice."

The five 2019 Spirit of Justice honorees are:

Kathryn P. Banks, J.D., LL.M. – Washington University School of Law
Assistant Dean for Clinical Education; Assistant Professor of Practice; Director, Children's Rights Clinic

Opal Jones - DOORWAYS
President and CEO

Tony Messenger – St. Louis Post-Dispatch
Metro Columnist

Jim Moran – Saint Louis University
Assistant Vice President; Chief of Public Safety

Otis Williams – St. Louis Development Corporation
Executive Director

The Saint Louis Bar Foundation has recognized 72 lawyers, non-lawyers and organizations for their Spirit of Justice.

With more than 6,000 members in the St. Louis region, including attorneys, judges, paralegals and law firm administrators, The Bar Association of Metropolitan St. Louis (BAMSL) is the oldest and most respected voluntary bar association in the area. BAMSL exists to benefit its members as well as to serve the legal profession and the public at large. The Bar Foundation and BAMSL collaborate on several initiatives each year, including Motion for Kids, a holiday party for children whose lives have been affected by the justice system; the High School Mock Trial Program and the St. Louis Attorneys Against Hunger initiative.
