Are you passionate about BAMSL? Do you have a flair for editorial leadership and a vision for shaping the future of our publication? If so, we invite you to join our team and become the Editor-in-Chief of the St. Louis Lawyer magazine. 

Role Overview: This is a volunteer position that offers an incredible opportunity to help shape the editorial direction, content strategy, and overall vision of the magazine. You will work closely with the Executive Director and the Communication Committee Chair on design and ensuring the publication's content resonates with our members. The Editor-in-Chief should have exceptional writing, editing, and proofreading skills. Additionally, the Editor-in-Chief should have the ability to identify legal trends and topics of interest to BAMSL’s readership. 

Key Responsibilities: 

  1. Develop and maintain the magazine's editorial strategy which includes conceptualizing and planning of engaging and informative content ensuring it aligns with BAMSL’s mission and audience. The editor will also oversee the selection of writers and development of story ideas. 
  2. Review and edit articles to maintain high-quality content by upholding editorial standards, including accuracy, style, grammar, and consistency. 
  3. Write feature articles, columns, and other content as needed. 
  4. Set and maintain editorial calendars, ensuring timely publication of issues which includes collaborating with BAMSL’s marketing department to meet printing and distribution deadlines. 
  5. Collaborate with the Executive Director and the Communications Committee to exercise editorial control and address content-related concerns or challenges.
